The post office held a yellow slip
I signed my name with a shaking hand
I tore the paper, held my breath
It was from her, the one I left
She said she saw the flames that night
She said she knew I had to go
And if I ever found my way back east
She\'d save a seat for me at her feast
The letter said what I\'d always feared
That I was loved, that I was heard
Not condemned for all my running away
But welcomed back to try again someday
The letter burned more than any flame
In that moment I understood
That home is where they wish you would
