"Bombard the Headquarters" is a collection of songs by Xiangyu after he graduated from university and started working. During this time, he was also active in his independent studies and participation in grassroots organizations. The album is titled "Bombard the Headquarters" because, based upon his observations, the two trends apparent in hip hop are commercialization and the tendency for discourse regarding hip hop to be dominated by elitists. Over the course of Xiangyu's studies, he was inspired by the fact that during the GPCR, the greatest number of schools was built in the shortest amount of time in Chinese history while various experiments were carried out in the fields of production, medicine, education, and etc. Most importantly, these experiments were carried out locally by the people themselves. Unlike idealists, he does not believe that music itself is capable of changing the world, but his music is nonetheless an attempt to create something that reflects ordinary people while drawing inspiration from the revolutionary masses. What are some of the "headquarters" "bombarded" in this album? Each song in this album represents different "headquarters." For example, in the song titled "Your So-Called Freedom and Democracy," the "bombarded headquarters" is neoliberalism that is oftentimes presented as the "universal value" of "liberal democracy." Although the name of the album might come off as serious in tone, songs like "Paolyta B" show that this album has a relaxed side as well. The GPCR was a time during which amateur artists flourished - ordinary people were given platforms where they could share their artwork. Reading about this struck a sympathetic chord in Xiangyu. Though he does not claim to be some sort of great artist, he nonetheless dedicates much time and effort on his music as very few things in life bring him the same kind of happiness that making music does.
