I. He snuck ashore with the autumn tides, Wife and children at his side He said “Please have pity on me” Heeding the wayfaring stranger’s cry The monks gave shelter to his children, to his wife That’s when he pulled the Book out That’s when the wolves were let out I’ll free you from delusion I’ll free you from your King I’ll free you from the darkness of the sea He said “Thank you for the food and shelter, and now I must ask you must leave, For your heathen temple now belongs to me” II. He said he was a missionary, a servant of God But the islanders knew he was just a fraud “Such a test the Lord give to thee“ He'd break into people’s homes just to preach "Never mind the women's cries, the children's screams All this talk of His flesh and blood Makes me yearn for the rush of the flood I’ll free you from delusion I’ll free you from your King I’ll free you from these devils that haunt you and me Go on, strike your heathen bell, he said, But we all know God’s glory rings through me III. Seven years of trouble from this quack Seven years before a ship came to take him back The monks said, “good riddance to thee“ But not before the missionary stole the temple bell And gave it to his Masters as loot for their conquests of hell That's when the spell was read out That's when the angels were let out I’ll free you from delusion I’ll free you from your dreams I’ll protect you from these bandits of the sea Despite the pain and trouble of this history The islanders will always hear that bell of liberation ring
